This course explains the dental assistant’s role in composite restoration for the treatment of decayed teeth.

This course provides knowledge in composite restoration. Composite restoration refers to the application of composite resins for the treatment of decayed teeth. The procedure enhances the cosmetic appearance of the teeth, helps to restore tooth anatomy and functionality, and helps to prevent the complications associated with dental caries (cavities), including tooth and bone loss and infection.

There are three principal stages in the restoration process, each of which is covered in detail in this module. This includes acid etching the enamel after the tooth has been prepared, placing the bonding agent and placing the composite resin.
